Like Youth Dance logo competition

Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company is delivering a Like Youth Dance - a two year programme of local out of school dance activity for disabled and non-disabled people aged 5-18.

We are looking for a logo to represent our three different age groups:

• 5 – 8 yrs
• 8 – 12 yrs
• 13 – 18 yrs

Can you come up with something fun and snappy? The winning designs will get a t-shirt with their logo on – and see it splashed on our publicity!

Send in your design for any of these age groups by Friday 18th December 2009.

The design should be based around the words Like Youth Dance and can be drawn on paper, or in a digital format to put on a disk or email to us.

Don’t forget to include: your name, contact number and address so we can get back in touch with you!

Off to Hong Kong

Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company are returning to The Centre for Community Cultural Development in Hong Kong to deliver a programme of inclusive dance for disabled and non-disabled people of all ages.

The programme encompasses a performance project with video projection and professional development opportunities for local artists.

The project is titled Wander; a human landscape, and draws upon the personal and shared experiences of participants, creating a landscape of their lives with their bodies.

It will culminate in two performances at the Jockey Club ‘Black Box’ Theatre on the 18th and 19th December 09.

We hope that participants will contribute to our blog. Watch this space…

Contact classes this autumn

Our inclusive adult dance classes ‘Contact’ are delivered this Autumn by Miriam Keye and Outreach Worker Sally Edwards under the theme of ‘Introductions’, with a short performance at our AGM.

Who are you when you dance? What brought you to dance?
What does it feel like when you dance? A chance to celebrate your own unique relationship with dance.

All rehearsals will take place at DASh, Unit 4 Hartley Business Centre, Shrewsbury.

Rachel Liggitt on Maternity leave

Our fabulous Education and Training Co-ordinator Rachel Liggitt leaves us this week for 6 months maternity leave. She will be much missed.

Joining us on a freelance contract is Miriam Keye, who brings a whole host of new skills and crative ideas. We’re looking forward to exploring these with her and welcoming her to the team.

Inclusive Leading Skills Course

Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company are delivering a course in inclusive dance leadership from 16th to 20th February 09 - a step towards achieving an Inclusive Dance Practice (Level 3) recognised accreditation through the Open College Network.

Introduction to Inclusive Leading Skills and Developing Inclusive Leading Skills include key elements and skills needed by an inclusive dance practitioner and is ideal for those wishing to pursue a career in inclusive dance.
