Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company, Shrewsbury, Shropshire

We have a small but hugely committed and dedicated staff team. Although our office is based in Shrewsbury, many of us are out and about much of the time delivering work both locally within Shropshire and the West Midlands, and elsewhere in the UK and overseas.

Our core team is:

Artistic Director – Rachel Freeman

Over the last 15 years my role as Artistic Director has coved a myriad of tasks but has now developed into leading the Company with particular focus on the aerial work, dance for screen, performance and fundraising. Blue Eyed Soul continues to feed my passion for inclusion and addiction to dance. One of the many things I love about the work is that each day, each year brings new and exciting opportunities.

Training & Education Co ordinator - Rachel Liggitt

I joined the Company in 2006. I have had a diverse and thoroughly enjoyable career to date including: Dance Artist In Residence at Bretton Hall College, Hull Primary Care Trust and Ludus Dance and a 5 - year lectureship at Leeds University. Working at Blue Eyed Soul is great - I get to do everything I love!

Outreach Worker – Sally Edwards

I have been involved with Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company from the very beginning, fifteen years ago. I deliver workshops in schools, and also deliver professional training for other dance artists and teachers. I have a passion for all things dance - I love performing and I get a great buzz from teaching, especially to very young people.

Company Manager - Moya Malekin

I joined Blue Eyed Soul in July 2008, and am really enjoying working as part of a small team. I have over 7 years experience in Arts and Venue Management, and this provides the opportunity to stretch my knowledge. Dance and Physical Theatre are the areas that most inspire me, and I’m excited by the work Blue Eyed Soul is delivering over the next couple of years. 

 We are also joined by Miriam Keye during 2009-10 as maternity cover for Rachel Liggitt.  She is busy delivering our education work, and planning ongoing projects such as our inclusive youth work for Telford and Wrekin.
